ADAMS TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn Information) – In keeping with a press release from the town of Adams, former Adams Mayor Charles Rust has died, he was 88.

Mr. Rust was a Commissioner for the town of Adams from Might 1963 to June 1989 and served as Mayor for 2 years from July 1987 to June 1989.

Charles Benjamin Rust, 88, of Adams, handed away on Friday, January 8, 2021, at Vanderbilt Medical Middle. Graveside memorial companies will probably be carried out Thursday, January 14th at 2:00 p.m. within the Adams Cemetery with Reverend Ken Gillespie and Reverend Paul Edwards officiating. There will probably be no visitation previous to the graveside memorial service.

Mr. Rust was born Might 4, 1932 in New Tazwell to the late Noel D. and Thelma Lynch Rust. He was one among three remaining college students that graduated from Bell College within the class of 1949. He went on to graduate from Austin Peay State College, Perdue College, and Western Kentucky College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, the place he served 5 years on the finish of the Korean Battle. Rust retired from the Todd County Board of Schooling the place he started as a classroom instructor, then went on to function a principal, after which function the Assistant Superintendent of Faculties with over 40 years of mixed service. He was a member of Adams United Methodist Church, the American Legion, and the Adams Masonic Lodge and Jap Star.

Mr. Rust is survived by his spouse, Martha Belk Rust, whom he could be married to for 45 years this coming August.
