Charles was born February 12, 1936, in Steele, MO, and grew up in Memphis. He attended Harding in Searcy, AR, and Centenary Faculty in Shreveport, LA, and served within the Navy from 1956-1960. Married to Carolyn Hutt Penny in 1957, the couple settled in Shreveport and raised their two kids. Charles was blessed to have a profession he liked, flying King Air 200 and Falcon 50 jets all through the US, Mexico, and Canada. He was a pilot for Murco Oil & Fuel, Western Firm, and golfer, Hal Sutton. His favourite vacation spot was Missoula, Montana, the place he liked to hunt elk.

After retirement, Charles and Carolyn lived in Carolyn’s hometown of Fouke, AR, then relocated to Nice View, Tennessee, to be close to grandchildren.
