Sgt. Jeremy W. Griffin Of Greenbrier, Killed In Motion In Afghanistan

GREENBRIER TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn Information) – In accordance with a launch from the Division of Protection this morning, Sgt. 1st Class Jeremy W. Griffin, 40, from Greenbrier died in battle yesterday.

Sgt. Griffin was killed Monday in Afghanistan whereas supporting Operation Freedom’s Sentinel, the discharge acknowledged.

“Sgt. 1st Class Jeremy W. Griffin, 40, from Greenbrier, Tennessee, was killed in motion Sept. 16, 2019, by small arms fireplace when his unit was engaged in fight operations in Wardak Province, Afghanistan. The incident is beneath investigation.”

Griffin was assigned to the third Battalion, 1st Particular Forces Group (Airborne), Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.

He was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star Medal and Purple Coronary heart.

Sgt. Griffin enlisted within the military again in 2004 and had deployments to Afghanistan, Iraq and Korea.
